This five day practical preparation week is not an RYA certificate course, it is however set at an advanced level and is designed for those who have prior experience of sailing yachts to Coastal Skipper Level. We also recommend that candidates have completed the Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Offshore Shorebased course prior to taking the practical exam.
During the prep week your instructor will coach you on subjects such as safety and emergency procedures, pilotage, mooring, boat handling, anchoring, advanced navigation and many others.
Your class size will never exceed a ratio of 5 students to one instructor which will give you plenty of time to complete all of the tasks your instructor will set for you.
You will them undergo a practical assessment by an independent RYA Yachtmaster examiner.
Up on successfully completing the course you will be awarded the RYA Coastal Skipper Motor Cruising Certificate which will be endorsed for tidal waters.

Included in the course fees are lunch, snacks and soft drinks, fuel and moorage fees.  

The RYA Yachtmaster certificate of competence is often the ultimate aim of aspiring skippers. It is an internationally known and respected qualification worldwide.

Unlike other courses in the RYA cruising programme, there is no formal course to complete in order to become a Yachtmaster. Instead, providing you have the prerequisites you can take the exam and test your skills and knowledge. Many of our Yachtmaster candidates do a seven day exam prep week with us. Here they hone their skill for 5 days and day 6&7 are examined by an independent RYA examiner. Successful candidates can have their Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competency commercially endorsed.
