This course is designed for beginners who want to learn how to safely take the controls of a sports or powerboat that is less then 10 meters in length.
To obtain both the RYA National Powerboat levels 1&2 candidates undergo a 3 day training course. The first day is spent in the class room studying the theory of powerboating. Your instructor will introduce you to the rules of the road, lights and day shapes, basic navigation techniques and tidal information among others.
At the end of your theory day you will be given a short written multiple choice test that is written in English.
Days two and three of the course comprise the practical sessions conducted onboard one of our training boats (or your own boat). During the practical sessions you will be taught to launch and recover the boat from and to a trailer, moor the boat alongside a pontoon as well as moor on a swing mooring, drive the boat astern (backwards), perform a series of high speed manoeuvres, perform a man overboard recovery procedure and many other skills that will improve your knowledge and confidence on the water.
Up on successfully completing the course you will be awarded the RYA National Powerboat Levels 1&2 which will be endorsed for coastal waters.
With your certificate, many boat charter companies around the world will allow you to rent a small powerboat for your own use - bareboat charter.
